Talking Chimp Brains
A new study reported in Current Biology has identified the homologue of Broca's area in the chimp brain. It's a PET study of communicative behaviors in chimps by Jared P. Taglialatela, Jamie L. Russell, Jennifer A. Schaeffer, and William D. Hopkins (Communicative Signaling Activates ‘Broca's’ Homolog in Chimpanzees Current Biology 2008 18: 343-348).
Now if we only knew what Broca's area was doing in humans, we might be able to interpret this cool finding.
