Mirror Neuron Course: Reading Set #1

First order of business in our course is to get an update on the mirror system's cognitive science bedfellow: the Motor Theory of Speech Perception.  As pointed out in a previous entry, there is an excellent recent review of the Motor Theory, which we plan to read and discuss at our next meeting.

Galantucci, Fowler, & Turvey (2006). The motor theory of speech perception reviewed. Psychonomic Bulletin & Review, 13:361-77.

We also plan to read a recent review of the mirror system to get an overview before we jump into some of the details.  Here is the paper we selected:

Rizzolatti & Craighero (2004). The mirror-neuron system. Annual Review of Neuroscience, 27:169-92.
