TWO ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OPENINGS AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY


The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN invites applications to fill two tenure-track faculty positions.  Appointments are expected to be at the assistant level; however, an especially well-qualified candidate may be appointed as associate professor. Successful candidates will be expected to pursue vigorous research programs. We are committed to excellence in research in communicative sciences across the lifespan.  Areas of specialization are open.  Our research portfolio would be enhanced by expansion in areas including phonological and phonetic aspects of speech, aging, swallowing, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, and degenerative and acquired neurogenic disorders.  These positions are tenure track, 10-month appointments, earliest start date Fall, 2013.  Ph.D. required; CCC-SLP or other clinical certification preferred but optional.  Numerous opportunities are available for interdisciplinary collaboration, for example, in neurosciences, linguistics, electrical and biomedical engineering, kinesiology, aging, psychological sciences, and pharmacological sciences.  Within the department, there is a strong infrastructure in place for research support, with NIH and NSF funded faculty in many different areas (http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/slhs/research/index.html ).  Purdue boasts top ranked clinical programs with rich pediatric and adult populations and strong ties to the Indiana University Medical School in Indianapolis.  Successful candidates will teach in their areas of specialization and will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the department.  http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/slhs  To be assured full consideration, complete applications should be received by December 1, 2012.  Review of applications will begin December 2, 2012 and continue until 2 positions are filled.
